Lesson FAQ :
How much are the lessons?
We organise our schedule into four week terms and most of our lessons are individual one to one half hour classes and start from €110 payable in advance for four weeks (4 x half hour plus access to Jam day or equivalent) renewable on the fifth week for next term of four.Price includes access to a free jam day or other Rockschool event every two months where students can meet other people interested in the same music and we also theme the Jam days for example “Focus on drum tuning” or “Guitar intonation adjustment” or drumming for guitarists -a chance to try out other instruments.We accept Cash, Credit/Laser Cards and Bank transfer.
What age does a student have to be to take lessons?
> We offer individual tuition to students aged 10yrs up to adults.
NB shortly we will announce a special Young Nippers group introduction to drumming class stay tuned for details.
Am I too old to learn? > Absolutely not! We have and continue to have great success with adult beginners and with individual classes you can relax in privacy and go at your own stress free pace.
How hard is it to learn an instrument?
In reality learning an instrument in the FK Rockschool is exciting and fun because you will be playing songs you know and love from day one.
Do I need a set of drums to start lessons ? >Not immediately however after four weeks students will need to have access to drums for practicing. We offer free practicing time to new drum students during their first four weeks of tuition.
How good are your tutors ? World Class motivated teachers with real world experience in all aspects of Rock. Our teachers are Songwriters, Band members, producers and all are expert in their field and most importantly they are talented educators. We don’t do boring.
I love rock music but I heard you should start on a Spanish acoustic guitar first is that correct? >
It is not necessary to start on an acoustic instrument however if you have one why not bring it along to your first four lessons and see how you get on.
How much practice do I need to do? > 30 mins a day,however,play as often as you want –after all this is music you love!
Can I record my lesson?
Yes
How long in duration are the lessons ?
It depends on the instrument. Most of our individual standard lessons are 30 minutes duration but some lessons in singing or sound recording may be more than 30 mins.
Do you offer group lessons?
We are all individuals and need individual attention so we all learn uniquely,The Frank Kearns Rockschool offers One to One tuition only except in vocal/singing and recording techniques.Our camps and jams give students a chance to interact with each other.
Can I meet other students to form a band?
Yes feel free to post a notice on the School noticeboard or take part in Free Jams and or Camps.
Do you take complete beginners?
Yes we are very welcoming of beginners and offer advice,support and practical help to get you started.

I see free lessons on the internet why should I go to your school can I not do this on my own?
All smart musicians realise the benefit of having regular coaching from an expert in their field.Why do U2 still use record producers? Why do top golfers always use coaches?. Having a pro teacher keeping you motivated and encouraging you to be all you can be is priceless.We introduce you to new music and techniques plus all our lessons take place in a Top recording studio so you will be learning in an enviornment where top artists have recorded! maybe you someday? -Sure Beats lessons in a kitchen with someone who wants to teach you scales for two years before you get to play the songs you love:-) .In any situation in life having a Pro beside you makes things flow quicker.
Opening hours for lessons?
Monday – Friday 3pm-9pm Rockchool is closed for lessons on the weekend
How many lessons would it take a beginner to play a song from scratch?
Depends on type of song and also your determination and frequency of playing. For example, If you are keen then we could have you playing a couple of rock songs based on powerchords ( most are!) in four -five weeks and blow everyone away.
